Randy Settell

Randy Settell, Medford Sports Hall of FameBackground:

Randy grew up in Medford, raised by his parents, Gary and Barbera. He has two brothers, Gary and Chris. Randy had the opportunity and privilege to have many coaches and family throughout his athletic career, who taught him to set goals and work hard to achieve them. After his college career, he coached track and field for three years at Southern Oregon University.

Accomplishments:

  • Randy held school shot put records at every school he attended from grade school through college. His high school shot put record stood for 20+ years, and his college record at SOU set in 1988 at 60’10.5” still stands. His college discus record set in 1988 of 175’6.5” stood for 27 years.
  • 1983 OSAA shot put champion and 2nd place discus.
  • 1988 Southern Oregon College NAIA National Champion shot put, and 2nd place in discus.
  • 1999 inducted into the Cascade Conference Hall of Fame.
  • 2000 inducted into the Southern Oregon University Hall of Fame.
