Richard Ragsdale, Medford Sports Hall of FameDick was one of the many Medford athletes that started playing football, basketball, track and baseball in the Medford system in the fourth grade and progressed through grade twelve. He was an outstanding student as well as athlete and is remembered as “…one of the boys of ’59-60, a marvelous assemblage of Medford High athletes that still stands taller than any group of prep athletes Oregon has ever known – at least in the post-World War II era.” (Mail Tribune).

He was 1st team All-Conference football, basketball and baseball in 59-60 & 60-61; 1st team All State quarterback in 1960; 1st team All-Tournament in basketball 1961; KOIN Oregon high school Athlete of the Year 1960-61; starting QB, starting guard and starting 3rd baseman on 1959-60 State Championship teams in football, basketball & baseball.

Dick was an All-Coast safety at Stanford and captain of the Stanford football team in 1964. He was voted Stanford Freshman Athlete of the year 1961-62, played in the East West Shrine game, and was inducted into the Stanford Sports Hall of Fame for Rugby.
