Kyle Singler
Background:
Born and raised in Medford, Kyle played multiple sports growing up until his senior year electing to focus only on Basketball. Kyle made a name for himself when he hit the elite AAU circuit around the country prior to his high school years. In his senior year at South Medford, his team won the prestigious Bass Pro Classic tournament in Springfield, Missouri and the schools very first state boys 6A basketball championship. He was chosen to play numerous All-Star games, such as the McDonald’s and Jordan Classic HS All-Star games, games which he was a starter. He was the #1 high school recruit at the small forward position in the country and earned a full ride scholarship to Duke University where he led his team his Jr. Year to an NCAA National Championship and where he was voted Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. Kyle went on to be the 33rd pick in the NBA draft in 2011 and had an 8 year professional career in the NBA and Spain combined.
Accomplishments:
- 4-year starter at South Medford, leading the teams to an overall 110-10 record; led South Medford to the 2007 State-basketball championship; ranked #1 in scoring and rebounding in South Medford history; 6th leading scorer in Oregon state history with 2,007 points and named the 2007 OSAA 6A Co-player of the Year; 2X first team All-State and 2X SOC Player of the Year; 2007 McDonald’s, Nike, Parade and USA Today All-American.
- Earned full ride scholarship to Duke University.
- Named ACC Rookie of the Year and MVP of Maui Classic as a freshman in 2007 at Duke.
- Played in 125 Duke wins (2nd all-time in ACC), setting career records for games played (148), games started (147), and minutes played (4,887).
- Ranked 4th at Duke with 2,392 career points; 6th in rebounds with 1,007; captain his senior year.
- 2X All-American; 2X All ACC first team, and 3X All ACC tournament first team.
- Only player in ACC Conference history with 2,000 pts, 1,000 rebounds, 300 offensive rebounds.
- Kyle drafted 33rd in the 2011 NBA draft by the Detroit. 2013 was NBA All Rookie 2nd
- 2011-2012 played for Real Madrid and helped the team win a Spanish King’s Cup.
- After a few seasons with Detroit, Kyle was traded to Oklahoma City Thunder.
- Retired in 2019 finishing a 6-year NBA career and 2-year career in Spain.
