Jerry Eklund

Jerry Eklund, Medford Sports Hall of FameBackground:

Jerry began his officiating in baseball and football in 1969 while attending high school in Carson, California. While attending UNLV on a full ride baseball scholarship, Jerry officiated adult flag football and intramural leagues. In the summer he called baseball games in Carson and Long Beach. Upon Graduation, Jerry moved to Medford, beginning his local officiating in 1977.

In 2013, Jerry will umpire the 6A Championship Baseball game, becoming the first official in 30 years to have called both the 6A Baseball and Football Championship games.

Accomplishments:

Baseball

  • 1300 plus games in Oregon
  • 1979 3A State Championship
  • 1989 4A State Championship
  • 75 plus playoff games in Southern Oregon
  • American Legion
  • 25-30 games per season; district: 1988 to present; 1995-97, 2002 AAA State Championships; 2009 AAA Legion Western Regionals

College

  • CAA 10-15 games per season, 2008 to present.

Football

Scholastic, 600-700 games; 50 playoff games across the State of Oregon; 1991 2A State Championship; 2006 4A State Championship; 2009 6A State Championship; Referee, Les Schwab Bowl High School All Star Game; 2006 Oregon State High School Official of the year.
