Bob’s athletic background in the Medford athletic system led to a basketball scholarship at Brigham Young University. During his Medford school days, he earned 3 varsity letters in football and baseball, 2 varsity letters in basketball and in his junior year he played on State Championship teams in all three sports, football, basketball and baseball.

As a junior in 1960, Bob made 2nd team All-Conference in basketball and as a senior he was 1st team All State in football, basketball and baseball, also receiving honorable mention All American in football that year.

Bob played 3 years of varsity basketball while attending Brigham Young University and his junior and senior year made 1st team All-Academic All­ Conference. After receiving his BS degree at Brigham Young, he attended the University of California at Berkley, receiving his MBA degree. He then attended University of Oregon for his degree in law.
