Robert D. McIntyre

Robert D. McIntyre, Medford Sports Hall of FameBob moved to Medford at age four and competed in sports at the grade school, junior high and high school level. At Medford High School he concentrated on track and basketball. After winning the State Championship in the 440, he received a track scholarship to Stanford University. At Stanford University Bob was the varsity co-captain in 1965 and performed the 100, 220, 440, both relays and the long jump. In May 1965 the Stanford 440 yd. relay team broke the NCAA, American Citizen and World Record. They were elected to the 1965 AAU All American Team and still hold the all-time Stanford University relay record. In the 1980’s he competed in Master’s age group decathlon in local, state and national competition. After college and the University of Oregon Medical School, he returned to Medford to practice anesthesiology for 28 years, retiring in 2002.
