Michael N. Chriss

Michael N Chriss, Medford Sports Hall of FameMike was Medford Mid High Most Valuable Player in football. Most Valuable Athlete and Most Improved basketball player of 1972. The same year – 3rd place Oregon High School State meet – 120 yard High Hurdles and Sophomore Class High Hurdles State Record holder at 14.4. In 1973 he was All-State football 2nd team and Outstanding Running back, Oregon High School State Champ – 120-Yard-high hurdles and set the Junior Class High Hurdles record at 14.0.

An inspiration to your Medford athletes and Mike’s devotion to athletics and character building through the Association of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Will long be remembered. In 1974 – what an awesome year… All-American Football, Football 1st team All State; Oregon High school State Champ – 120 high hurdles and 330 intermediate hurdles; senior class high hurdle State co-record holders – 13.8; All-State Track; All-American track; 3rd in 1974 Golden West Invitationals – 400 intermediate Hurdles; 5th in Jr AAU National Track and Field Championships. 110m high hurdles; and 6th in 1975 Jr AAU National Championships – 110 high hurdles.

Mike attended the University of Oregon, serving as captain on the football team 1974-77 and received U of O Special Teams Award in 1977.  In 1974-1978 he received many awards in high hurdles, intermediate hurdles, and decathlon.
