John Christensen

John Christensen, Medford Sports Hall of FameBackground:

John is Medford native and attended Jefferson Elementary School and Medford Mid-High before moving to Sacramento midway through his sophomore year where he graduated high school. He returned to Medford in 1988. He has had 35-year officiating career and was inducted into the USA of Oregon State Hall of Fame as an umpire in 2017.

In 1988 he began his softball playing career as an Amateur Softball Association (ASA) player in Medford, playing weekly in a local league as a member of a prominent travel team. However, he quickly gravitated toward umpiring both baseball and softball games. In 1999, he was asked to join the High School and ASA Fastpitch Associations as an umpire, here he remains active to this day. He rose through the ranks very quickly in the softball association, thanks in part to great mentors who helped mold him into the umpire he is today. He has umpired State, Regional, and National Championship games.
