Cheryl Eilenberger
For the better part of 34 years, bowling has been very good to Cheryl and certainly, Cheryl has been great for bowling. A resident of Medford since 1952, she has brought local, state and national recognition, not only to herself, but to the Medford Community for her accomplishments.
For starters, in 1982 Cheryl won the prestigious U.S. Open Qualifier in Portland and earned the honor of representing Oregon at the U.S. Open Tournament held in St. Louis, Missouri. She is the only woman to carry a 200 average in the Medford and Ashland Bowling Association and she has 19 sanctioned “700” series with a high of 759. Her high game reached 290 and she wears a “600” pin.
Cheryl received high accolades and honors from the Oregon State Bowling Association for being one of the top five women bowlers in Oregon with a 200 average. She, along with the other 4 women, were featured in the Oregon Womens HEAD PIN. National recognition was given her from the W.I.B.C. (Womens International Bowling Congress) for 5 years of accumulative averages published in the WlBC Womens Bowler publication. In 1984, she ranked 51st in the nation for her high average in the W.I.B.C.
For her consistent success on the lanes, dating back to when she was a top junior bowler, Cheryl has won her fair share of tournaments: The Southern Oregon Queens Tournament in Grants Pass; Medford City tournaments and bowling titles in Eugene and Spokane, and a Mixed Swiss in Ashland.
Cheryl not only has contributed to the sport as a participant, but at the administrative level as well. She has served as President of the Oregon Ladies Bowling Association, the Womens Classic League and Invitational League; was secretary of the Classic and Invitational League and director of the Medford Womens Association.
Cheryl was inducted into the Medford Womens Bowling Hall of Fame for her superior performance on the lanes.
