Brad Arnsberg, Medford Sports Hall of FameFirst Team All-State Tight End Football; Register Guard First Team All-State Tight End Football; Southern Or­egon Second Team All-League Basketball; Southern Oregon First Team All-League Baseball; First Team All-State Pitcher Base­ ball; Carson City Capitol Classic All Tourney Team Baseball; 19th Round June Free-Agent Professional Draft Cleveland Indians (didn’t sign)– all of this in 1980-81, Brad’s last year at Medford High School.

During Brad’s years at Merced Jr. College and Stanislaus State “they” were knocking at his door; 1982 Professional Draft First Round January Fee-Agent, St. Louis Cardinals; first Round Free-Agent, Baltimore Orioles; 1983 First Round January Free-Agent, Cali­fornia Angels — but he still didn’t sign!

Still eligible to play Legion ball in 1982, Brad was selected to the Carson City American Legion Tournament first Team and played on the Northwest Legion Regional team in Mon­ tana. As a college standout, he was awarded Junior College All American; Merced College SUN STAR Athlete of the Year; Central Valley First Team All-League, and ALL NOR-CAL Community College first Team.

Brad played summer ball with the Alaska Goldpanners in Fairbanks before signing his first professional baseball contract with the New York Yankees. In 1984 he pitched his first professional No-hitter and was named NOR­ CAL Minor League Rookie of the Year; 1985 DOUBLE A – Yankee Minor League Right­ Handed Pitcher of the year; 1986TRIPLE A­ First Major league vs. Cleveland Indians; 1987 MAJOR LEAGUE team and when the season ended, he was traded to the TEXAS RANGERS. Brad spent the 1988-89 seasons recovering from major elbow surgery and in May of 1990 was moved to the TEXAS MAJOR LEAGUE as relief pitcher. He was involved in Nolan Ryan’s 298th, 299th and 300th wins while achieving saves in the 298th and 300th wins. His record as of 9-22-90 is 7 wins/ 1 loss with a 1.66 ERA.
