Bill Rowan, Medford Sports Hall of FameBackground:

Bill was born in 1954 and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii where he attended Panahou School, graduating in 1973. After placing at the Hawaii Track and Field Championships his junior and senior year, he went to the University of Oregon and participated on the 1974 Track and Field team. Bill is a nationally certified USA track and field coach. He has published 2 articles in a professional journal covering the motivation of athletes and timeline for periodization of training.  Bill has retired from teaching and coaching and enjoys time with grandchildren.

  • South Medford HS head coach track and field, 19 years; head cross country coach 13 years
  • Track and field, SOC champions, boys 6 years, girls 4 years
  • Oregon State champions, girls 1998, 2nd place 1997
  • 1999 girls 4A track and field Coach of the Year
  • Cross Country head coach 13 years, South Medford HS
  • SOC district champions, boys 3 years, girls 3 years
  • OSAA championship qualifiers, 7 boys’ teams, 5 girls’ teams
  • 1991: South Medford won boys’ first district championship
