Bill McKibbin
St. Mary’s of Medford was coached by Bill McKibbin, a graduate of the University of Portland with a B.A. degree in 1956 and a master’s degree in 1957. He began his coaching career at St. Mary’s in 1957 after being a graduate assistant at the University of Portland. He took over Director of Athletic duties in 1960, also coaching football.
Under Bill’s leadership the St. Mary’s football team won the championships in 1959 and 1960. His track teams placed second in 1958, third place in 1962 and sixth place in 1963 and 1964 in the state meet. His football teams were undefeated in 1959, 1960, 1962 and 1965, losing but 7 out of the last 66 games. His 1962 football team was eliminated from playoffs by reason of an ineligibility and the 1965 team tied in the semi-final game with Serra Catholic 7-7.
