Jack L. Brown
Jack attended Banks Union High School, near Portland, Oregon, playing four years of football, basketball, and baseball from 1947-1951. He played for the B State Championship in football in 1950, at that time there being only A and B schools.
From 1951-1953 he attended O.I.T. playing at quarterback in football and pitching baseball. Jack enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 where he played basketball and baseball throughout Europe from 1954-1956. He won the Most Valuable Player award for the United Kingdon in basketball in 1956.
Jack enrolled at Southern Oregon College in 1957, playing two years of football and baseball and graduated in Elementary Education in the spring of 1960. Playing softball as a third baseman from 1957-1975, he partook in 11 state tournaments, and three Northwest Regional tournaments while being selected to the state All-Star team on five occasions. He played in about 700 games. In 1971 he was a member of the Champion Malor’s Mudhens.
Jack taught and coached from 549-C from 1960-1984. He assisted in girls’ softball at Medford Senior High 1983-1985 – they won the State Championship in 1984. He also officiated football, basketball, and softball from 1958-1979, the last year officiating at the State AAA basketball tournament.
