David Faaeteete, Medford Sports Hall of FameBackground:

Born in Western Samoa, David Faaeteete and his family immigrated to California in 1988, and eventually made their way to Oregon, where David attended McLoughlin Middle School where he discovered his love for athletics. He graduated from North Medford High School and attended the University of Oregon on a football athletic scholarship. Upon graduation, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears and later the Oakland Raiders, though he was released from both teams. David took over as head coach at Hermiston High and in 2017, he led the teams to a 5A State title.

David teaches history and is head football coach as well as assistant coach in track and field. As a teacher and coach, David has worked to impact the lives of the students the way his teachers and coaches inspired him. “I grew up without a father, my coaches filled that role and inspired me to be better, so I will be what they were to me, someone’s inspiration, someone’s reason to care, and that one person who will hold the rope where others let go.

Accomplishments:

  • North Medford 2002-2003 Outstanding Defensive Lineman at North Medford.
  • 2003 Outstanding Offensive Lineman and Offensive Player of the year.
  • SOC 2001, 2002, 2003 Offensive Lineman: SOC 2002, 2003 Defensive player of the Year.
  • 2003 All-State First Team Offensive and Defensive; 2003 Oregon High School Defensive Player of the Year; 2003 Oregon Athlete of the Year finalist.
  • 2002-2003 Nike Combine top lineman.
  • 2003 Prep Star Magazine All-American team.
  • U of O 4-yer letterman (2004-2007); 2004 Newcomer Lineman award.
  • 3-year starter appearing in the Las Vegas Bowl and the Sun Bowl.
  • 2006-2007 Game Day Captain; Oregon Defensive Line Squad Leader 2006-2007.
  • Oregon team captain 2007.
