Daniel Joseph Miles
A “Medford Product” from day one…and one of Medford’s better all-around athletes, Danny quarterbacked the Hedrick football team to an undefeated season his freshman year, then did the same thing on the Medford High JV team as a sophomore, also receiving a varsity letter as extra point kicker and back-up quarterback. Lettering his junior and senior year he quarterbacked our State Championship team, (11-0). rated #3 in the nation, was All Conference, All State honorable mention, and voted most valuable player of the Shrine team.
BASKETBALL: junior and senior starter,2nd team All-Conference both years. BASEBALL: freshman – played 3 varsity games on State Championship team; sophomore – started at short stop, All Conference honorable mention; junior – All Conference short stop; senior – All Conference, All State short stop. Shrine baseball team. AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: 5 years as player. Full scholarship to Oregon State University, transferred to Southern Oregon College in 1964.
At Southern Oregon College: FOOTBALL: 4-year starter at QB. 4-year letterman, 3 Conference Championships. Led nation in passing percentage as a freshman .741%. Still the NCAA record. Led nation in total offense as a sophomore .661%. Still the NCAA record for passing for a career. Holds nearly 15 school records for passing and kicking. All Conference, All District, All Coast, All Northwest and All American. BASKETBALL: Captain of team as a freshman starter. BASEBALL: 4-year starter, All District 2 years, All Conference, All Coast. Turned down pro baseball offers by San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: Medford (2 years) 68-31 record. Bend (1 year)51-16, 2nd in State. Klamath Falls (4 years)152-59, 2ndin State one year, State Champions one year, and state playoffs 4 years. Overall record 271-106 with 17 players in professional baseball.
